I like a bit of Theatre !! LOL
This time last year I went to the "opening" of the Auricula Theatre at the Garden Museum in Lambeth.........
(by the look of it, it was warmer than it is now !)
........ and thought "I'd like one of those!"
A few weeks later, whilst wandering round an "antiques" warehouse in Crystal Palace, I found a Victorian wall-hanging whatnot that looked perfect, got £2 off the asking price, and carried it home. We bought 3 additional auriculas to those we have, and I split some up and planted them in 14 small terracotta pots, leaving 3 bigger plants in their larger pots. Somehow I never got round to painting the whatnot to survive the outdoors, so it is still hanging in the gazebo. And of course we've had a very cold winter, so the poor plants were frozen solid for a number of weeks and looked very sorry for themselves until very recently, at the first sight of sunshine they have perked-up significantly !
So last weekend I took photographs of the 2 that have bloomed.......
With the improved weather the last few days some of the others have now thrown up buds, I'll be back out, hopefully this weekend, camera in hand !
We have been waiting some months for the decorator to turn up to paint the exterior of the house - he has promised to start next week - so, I guess, the Theatre will now open next year !!
