I can't believe it's already over a week since my Surprise (Shock !) Party, and almost a week since my actual Birthday !!  A big card with a big 59 printed on it arrived mid-week, which really did "bring it home" that I am actually old !! LOL

So here are a few photos from that Friday evening.......

I couldn't quite work out why the first people I saw were Ross and Jim........ as it was all a touch ou of context in my shocked state when I entered through the doors...........   And Miranda hands round the lavender cup cakes.....

Linda and Bert get cosy ! ........ While Alex, Martin and Lynne discuss the merits of an empty plate !!

The "culprit", lovely Lynne who organised all the deceit !

As I complained that I was now missing my scampi, chips and peas, the original plan for the evening, the pub somehow managed to rustle up a couple of portions for me and Franco...............................

And this is a big Hibiscus flower on the plant my mother sent me !

Well, that's what we call it, I think it was Lynne who came up with the phrase some time ago for using when either Franco or I are at home whilst the other is elsewhere visiting family (usually), and she makes sure we are not left alone for long !  She usually organises something to do, and while Franco is in Turin this weekend, I have been out for a delicious fish&chip (scampi for me) supper at the Big Catch yesterday evening with her, Miranda and a work colleague/friend of theirs, I'm going to Lynne's for supper and the X Factor on TV this evening, and now it seems I'm going for lunch tomorrow with her, Miranda, Martin & Utku.................... Never mind suicide watch, I'm going to be the size of a house !!! LOL LOL

In truth, I can never really settle when Franco isn't at home at the weekend, and can't seem to buckle down and get anything constructive done ! in spite of always thinking I'm going to get all sorts of chores done around the house and garden.  So it is really lovely to be "distracted" until the gorgeous [livejournal.com profile] london1967  is back in my arms.

It's probably a little inappropriate using the suicide word just now, on reflection, but I was almost at the end of the post when I realised........ and life does have to go on.

In the meantime, I'm going to share some colourful images from our recent travels.........

This display looked so joyful under the grey skies in Copenhagen, as did someone's parked bike near the palace, and this "Peer Gynt" rose.

And a couple of fairground attractions in  the "Tivoli Gardens"..........

A few days ago when my friend Stephen came to stay, we were invited to go and see Lynne's honey bees, along with Miranda who also has bees......

One hive has bees from the south coast, and they are very quiet and seem well behaved, the bees in the second hive are from Wakefield in Yorkshire and have a rather "northern" temperament to match.

After watching, from a safe distance behind mesh, Lynne and Miranda inspecting the bees, we wondered off to look at some nearby immaculately kept allotments.  On our walk back both Stephen and I were targeted by a bee each, they made a bee-line (...I know! lol) for us ! I was immediately stung on the neck, and Stephen stung on his arm in spite of removing his shirt in record time when it flew down the front........ a second one landed on my beard but was brushed off by Lynne who had come to rescue us.

It felt very strange, as I'd always imagined getting stung was "by accident" , not being singled out for a sting by a kamikaze! Sinister !! And I'm sure the Wakefield bees heard both our Yorkshire accents and thought they'd "get" us !!

Luckily sting-wipes were at hand, and we then went and sat in a quiet area until the hive inhabitants had settled down a little.

We've been invited round for dinner this evening by the lovely Lynne, which reminded me of a recent photo I took of her on her "new" bike !

and on this occasion she was joined by the (also) lovely Miranda........

I'm now wondering if Lynne was relying on hair-gel as a helmet !!

Our lovely friends (and neighbours) Lynne and Miranda are now both proud bee-keepers, and at the weekend settled their hives in two sites, one very local, the other a few miles away, they are very happy, and, it seems, so are their bees !! Another friend/neighbour, Gary, who also did the "bee course"  was there to give them a helping hand..... Gary is so cool, he has his shades on in there!

I pictured their new bee suits with old-fashioned wide-brimmed hats, but on first looking at the photograph they sent I thought a manned Apollo mission had landed !!

on second thoughts, the hats remind me of cat carrying baskets !! lol

I am very remiss in not posting these photos sooner ! .... so here is a picture of the gorgeous Birthday Boy  ([livejournal.com profile] london1967)  himself, alongside the lovely Lynne.

The lovely Miranda toasts with a glass of champers....

AND, the all-important Afternoon Tea CAKES !

YUM !

.............enjoying a hot chocolate al-fresco...............................................

And .............................................................the photographer at work.......

The "Arctic" weather has returned, at least we've had some sun and blue sky, with flurries of snow, and more forecast for tomorrow and Friday.... particularly the South-East, mainly Kent.... just down the road !!

Here are some "seasonal" little fellows.... part of a "retro" game belonging to Lynne, though the photo was taken last summer when the weather was a little kinder !

In certain lights they look a little spooky !  Watch out Dr Who ! LOL

For Pride'09 we recycled our "floral" outfits from a few years previous, as Franco ([livejournal.com profile] london1967 ) decided at the last minute (well midweek) that we should go on the march........  Lynne joined us, as our "bitch", in black, adorned with pink leather dog collars and a corsage of flowers in her black stetson. (as seen on [livejournal.com profile] london1967  LJ)   Her favourite pose, for the very many photos that were taken of us all day, was down on one knee.  Needless to say she had bad leg ache that evening and the next day she went off to the coast with a friend to have a quiet relaxing day by the sea.  Well, they chose to go to Dungeness - home of a famous nuclear power station !   We saw them that evening "glowing", but it wasn't until the next day that Lynnes leg ended up bright red and badly blistered..... was it the sun, or radiation we wondered!!  After weeks of intensive moisturising her leg returned almost to normal, though with curly hairs !! go-figure!

So, here we have a buddleia, two fuschias, and Lynnes burnt leg !! - early July'09.

Well the first photo from my "mobile collection" shows our dear friend Lynne with our "happy hour" Cosmopolitan cocktails at  First Out Cafe in the West End. Unlike me she hardly drinks any alcohol, hence her eyes have changed to the same colour as the drink! LOL  I seem to remember we were in need of refreshment "with an edge" though I can't think why........ we were meeting up with Franco to go to the theatre to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
