There's nothing quite like the first bunch of (shopbought) daffodils in the house to remind one that Spring is on th way, particularly on a wet and gloomy day like today.
I have actually seen a handful of the yellow lovelies in bloom out-of-doors already, due to the mild winter we've been having !

and another "flower" spotted recently !

.... and temptation by jewel-coloured sweeties !!

Way back in April, the lovely David and Ricardo ([livejournal.com profile] bazanges ) entertained us for the weekend, which included a visit to the RHS Spring show. The company was glorious (as ever) as was the weather !

The show was a most enjoyable start the the season of what feels like “full-on” gardening, and the sun ensured a large crowd at the show, and in the grounds of Cardiff Castle where it is held.

A reminder of Spring.......

David slaved away in the kitchen all weekend, providing us with lots of delicious food, including a delightful blackberry and apple crumble..... yum !

…. and we got to spend some time chillaxing, with the odd gin or three..............  and much to Franco's surprise/horror, a crisp(chips sandwich for me !!

and David's garden was looking wonderful......................

Well, I think that's enough photos for one day !! ...... so long as they post !!

When we first planted out our "cottage" back garden we included a white camellia in the "white/cream" flower bed which forms one quarter of the garden. Since then it has steadily grown, but only had one bloom in 3 years ! As a result, last autumn, we gave it a severe "talking to" and intimated we would "give it the chop!" if it didn't improve, and fast !!   It seems to have worked, there are a total of 10 flowers this spring, all in different stages of bloom, but all looking gorgeous!

I love these little blue flowers that usually appear just after the snowdrops, hence their name "glory of the snow"

Chionodoxa forbesiiT

and here they are forming a carpet of blue in a local church graveyard, and looking beautiful, and peaceful......

.....and here is a bee taking advantage of the brief sunny period and visting the helebore plant that Ricardo ([livejournal.com profile] bazanges ) gave us when he was staying a few weeks ago....... it's had so many flowers on it !

In spite of the return of the cold weather, Spring IS here !!
